Create and pick tags so related items stay together and are faster to find later
Created Aug 18, 2026 · Updated Sep 16, 2026

Categories say what the money was for. Tags add context, such as Japan trip, home, or company claim. One item can have both a category and several tags.
What Boe helps with here
- Create your own tags from the logging form
- Pick multiple tags on one item
- Search tags by name and see every selected tag
- Keep My tags separate from System tags
- Reuse the same tag on many items so later search and grouping are easier
How to use tags
1. Create a tag
- Open a new item, or an existing item you want to edit
- Go to Tags, then tap Add tag
- Use a short name such as
Japan trip, company claim, orhousehold - Tap add — TangBoe creates the tag and selects it on the item right away
2. Attach tags to an item
- Tap Tags in the logging form
- Select more than one tag if you need to
- Use search when you have many tags
- Check Selected, then close and save the item
Tap a selected tag again to remove it, or tap Clear all to remove every personal tag you picked.
3. Search by tag later
- Open Transactions
- Open filters or search, then pick the tag
- TangBoe shows items with the same tag, so trip, work, or project totals are faster to pull together
Keep names short and consistent. Use Chiang Mai trip every time instead of switching with Chiang Mai or North trip.
My tags vs system tags
- My tags are yours to organize items. You can add or remove them from an item
- System tags are tied to a wallet or spend group and created automatically
When you create a spend group, TangBoe creates and attaches a group tag automatically. Add items to the group in two ways:
- Open the group, then tap Add item — the group tag is selected for you
- Use the normal log button, then pick the tag with the same name as the group before saving
If the group or its parent has locked money, that tag shows as locked and cannot be added or removed until the group is unlocked.
