Track gold buys and sells, cost, and value in TangBoe
Track gold buys and sells, cost, and value in TangBoe

TangBoe records gold as an asset, not a regular expense. You can follow quantity, average cost, current value, and how buys and sells move wallet cash.

What Boe helps with here

  • Log gold you already own as a starting balance without creating past cash-out
  • Record buys and sells so they connect to wallet cash and gold quantity
  • Follow weight, unit, average cost, latest price, and current value

Which gold TangBoe supports

  • 96.5% gold bars
  • 96.5% jewelry gold
  • 99.99% gold bars
  • Digital Gold

Available units depend on the asset, such as gram, kilogram, troy ounce, and baht-gold. TangBoe converts gold units to one standard for quantity and cost.

Before you start

  1. Open Wallets
  2. Create or pick an Investment wallet
  3. Use that wallet for gold holdings and buy/sell transactions

Keep a gold wallet separate from everyday spending so portfolio value and cash flow stay easy to read.

Add gold you already own

Use this when you held gold before TangBoe and need a starting balance.

  1. Open Wallets, then go to Investment assets (Holdings)
  2. Tap Add holding
  3. Search and pick the gold type you hold
  4. Choose a unit, then enter quantity
  5. Enter average cost and cost currency
  6. Pick the investment wallet, add a note if you want, then save

After saving, the portfolio shows units, average cost, market value, and the last price update time.

Log a gold buy

Use an investment transaction so cash leaves the wallet and gold quantity increases together.

  1. Open Transactions, then add an item
  2. Choose transaction type Investment
  3. Pick the wallet that paid and the investment wallet that holds the gold
  4. Open assets, then pick the gold you bought
  5. Choose action Buy
  6. Enter cash amount, gold quantity, and the weight unit from the receipt
  7. Put premium or shop details in the note, then save

A successful buy counts as cash-out and increases the related holding.

Log a gold sell

  1. Add an item and choose type Investment
  2. Pick the gold and investment wallet you want to sell
  3. Choose action Sell
  4. Enter cash received, quantity sold, and the correct unit
  5. Save

A sell counts as cash-in and reduces the holding. Don’t sell more than you currently hold.

Update prices and see current value

  1. Open Wallets and check Holdings Snapshot
  2. Pick the base currency for the portfolio total
  3. Tap Update prices / Sync prices
  4. Check last update time, market value, and portfolio total

If you just synced, TangBoe may skip for a short cooldown. Wait a moment, then try again.

Buying gold vs setting a starting balance

  • Add holding — set gold you already own. No past cash in or out
  • Log a buy — wallet cash goes down and gold quantity goes up
  • Log a sell — wallet cash goes up and gold quantity goes down

After the starting balance, use buy/sell items whenever cash should move.

Check before saving

  • Pick bar vs jewelry gold correctly
  • Match the unit to the document, especially gram vs baht-gold
  • Amount is the real cash paid or received after fees
  • Attach the receipt or sale slip to the item
  • Check the date — it affects monthly reports

Fix a wrong quantity or cost

  • If a buy/sell item is wrong, open it from Transactions and edit
  • If the starting balance is wrong, open the holding and edit quantity or average cost
  • Don’t edit both the transaction and the holding for the same change — gold quantity can drift
